TYGER

THE ALL NEW CEE YOUTH GROUP for Jewish teens from 7th to 12th grade

TYGER (Temple Youth Group of EmanuEl Redlands) is designed for and by our teens. As you can see, we not only have a new name, but also a new energy! Our Youth Advisor, Franklin Kline, is dedicated to empowering our youth to initiate and promote their Jewish identity through social, recreational, social action, cultural and Jewish programs. Our goal this year is focused on building.  We will be building our membership, our activities, our fundraising, and our community involvement. Most of all, we will be building a fun program for teens of all ages. Remember, all our programs are initiated and ran by the kids themselves. This allows them to have ownership.  After all, it is their organization.

TYGER is an affiliate of NFTY Southern California, an affiliate of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), which link temple youth groups of Reform synagogues regionally and nationally into a network, providing opportunities for our youths to meet youths of other synagogues.

Jewish Camps

Children of our Synagogue are encouraged to attend summer Jewish camping programs. Our region of the Reform Movement operates a summer camp, Camp Newman in Santa Rosa. Although, as members of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), our children have preference in registration for camp, spaces may be limited and early registration is advised. Both the Temple and Sisterhood provide some campership support. Other, non-URJ Jewish camping options exist in Southern California, as well, about which information is available at the Temple Office.

Inland and Desert Hillel

Inland and Desert Hillel: The largest Jewish campus organization in the world, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life provides opportunities for Jewish students at more than 500 colleges and universities to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity through its global network of regional centers, campus Foundations and Hillel student organizations.  Hillel is working to provoke a renaissance of Jewish life.  Hillel’s mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.  Hillel student leaders, professionals and lay leaders are dedicated to creating a pluralistic, welcoming and inclusive environment for Jewish college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually and socially.  Hillel helps students find a balance in being distinctively Jewish and universally human by encouraging them to pursue tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) and Jewish learning, and to support Israel and global Jewish peoplehood.  Hillel is committed to excellence, innovation, accountability and results.  Visit their website at www.iehillel.org.
