Disaster Relief for Haiti
A severe earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010. This is the most severe earthquake to hit that impoverished country in 200 years.
The Reform community has a long history of generosity when natural disasters devastate communities. The Union for Reform Judaism is a member of the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief, which allows a unified Jewish response to natural and man-made crises that occur outside of North America.

Step by Step - A Community Reentry Coalition

Our support for parolees reentering the community is even more important in this difficult economy. We still need hygiene items with particular emphasis on razors, shaving cream, and shampoo. See a good sale? Think of buying several and bringing them to the Temple Office. A monetary donation (memo: “Step by Step”) will be applied to the urgent needs of parolees to assist them in starting productive lives and staying out of prison. Contacts: Joanne Singer and Dr. Asher Sheppard of the Social Action Commitee.

Help Stop Genocide in Darfur!
For the first time in its history, the Committee on Conscience of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has declared a “ genocide emergency ,” saying that genocide is imminent or is actually happening in the Darfur region of Sudan.
The crisis in Sudan is critical, with hundreds of thousands of refugees and victims of atrocities at risk of dying over the next several months. We can make a difference. Donations to the Union’s Sudan Relief Fund will be used to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Sudan through reputable agencies. Click here to be redirectef to the URJ Sudan Relief Page where you can learn more and make direct donations.
